The Five at Five: Recess

21 May 2020

The Five at Five is a download of the best things to read, watch, shop, and get inspiration from – ready for the weekend. Each week, we’ll be bringing you selections from different tastemakers in our community, so you can delve into what’s keeping them entertained.

This week’s curator is Ben Witte, the founder & CEO of Recess, a wellness and lifestyle brand to help people feel balanced, centered and inspired — despite an increasingly stressful world.

Read:
Shoe Dog. An autobiography by Phil Knight on the founding of Nike. The best book ever on the entrepreneurial journey and the perseverance required to break through.

Watch:
Virgil Abloh’s Lecture at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design. Virgil is one of my biggest inspirations. I love this talk at the Harvard School of Design where he discusses his philosophy on design, creating and integrating into culture, visual identity systems, and brand as social commentary on society.

Listen:
Spotify Playlist: Beachwood Canyon. This is a playlist of what I’ve been listening to during quarantine in Los Angeles at my house in Beachwood Canyon

Shop:
Jungmaven Hemp T-shirts. Jungmaven is a brand out of Portland that makes these amazing t-shirts that are made out of hemp – the type of cannabis plant that the CBD used in Recess is extracted from. I love the stripe ones in particular.
