Greenhaus: putting the shopability in sustainability

22 May 2019

Greenhaus is a 21st-century marketplace putting the planet before profits. Their store on Bethnal Green Road is a haven of lush greenery and comfy couches that offers a temporary physical retail space for direct-to-customer brands. Visitors to the store will be able to purchase everything from cycling helmets to clothes, to paints and homeware. The catch? All the brands are vetted by Greenhaus and must subscribe to their exact standards of sustainability.

Many new sustainable brands now live and trade online but, for many people, handling, vetting and meeting the person behind the product is an essential part of the process. One reason we love markets is the chance to converse with the founder: how many of us have been talked into buying a new antique or vintage shirt by a particularly chatty (read: complimentary) stall owner? Greenhaus is staffed by knowledgeable employees who are trained to educate on sustainability with the same passion as the company owners.

Community is also key. Greenhaus programs workshops, talks and screenings, relevant to customers and dealing with themes of sustainability. Meet like-minded souls. Shop something great for the planet. Feel good. Welcome to the 21st-century.

Greenhaus will be open on 133-135 Bethnal Green Road from 23rd April to 22nd July.
