JUST... BIG TREES, little bees

7 Aug 2013

Last week saw the Environmental Justice Foundation launch their 7th pop up store ‘JUST…BIG TREES, little bee’s’ in Soho's Fouberts Place to celebrate their new Woodlands Project and ongoing Save the Bees Campaign to raise awareness for the drastic decline in the bee population caused by environmental factors. Appear Here went along for the day to check it out.

The store's product range of playful graphically printed t-shirts and vests combines fashionability and sustainability without compromise. A whole host of designers have collaborated with EJF to create limited designs with style and substance including Katharine Hammett, Kenzo, Betty Jackson and Alice Temperley. Vivienne Westwood’s iconic climate tee is also available in store along with the newest additions to the collection; two 'Save the Bees' inspired tees designed exclusively by the Rodnik Band and Rapanui Clothing in support of the foundations latest campaign which brings nature to the heart of London. The range of t-shirt is fittingly complimented by organic and youthful jeans brand ‘Monkee Genes’ in store, whom inject a playful style into their cool yet conscience designs along with ‘Seedboms’ keeping the store popping fresh with their eco-friendly and biodegradable flower bombs.

The store itself is light and minimal, reflective of the concept and organic approach adopted and the t-shirts conscientious journey to the store. Produced in the most ethical and eco-aware conditions in a wind powered factory in India the 100% organic tee’s are printed in the UK using phthalate-free inks; ensuring all stages of the production process causes minimal environmental impact from the ship transportation right down to the stores ‘no bag policy’ and UK hand finishing.

EJF has gained vast high profile support across numerous campaigns since launching in 2001, collaborating with multiple public figures such as Lily Cole and Emilia Fox- both Patrons of the Foundation and most recently British Actor Jason Flemyng whom can be seen in the new ‘bee tee’ campaign.
