Right where NoLita meets Little Italy, you will find a hip, luxe women’s clothing store from which you can launch your own brand. Famous for its charming shops featuring jewelry, vintage clothes, and textiles, NoLita is known among fashion aficionados for its rarities and one-off treasures. 188 Lafayette, with its built in clientele, white washed walls, and modern vibe could be welcomed addition to the neighborhood.
The area is not overly crowded like its neighbor to the west SoHo, but it does attract tourist, shoppers and cafe sitters. On weekends, Mulberry St (2 blocks east) is closed for farmers markets and locals spill over to the surrounding streets for leisurely shopping. Shoppers here give brands space to grow and evolve and appreciate their independence and uniqueness.
Unique shops aside, the neighborhood is home to some larger, but not huge, brands like the boho chic Planet Blue directly across the street. Trendy workout spots like Y7 Studio, Soulcycle, and Monster Cycle (right next door) are gathering spots for young professionals. But mostly, well-curated, little shops like Saturdays NYC - cool men’s surf/clothing shop- Noah - colorful men’s classics - and Creatures of Comfort - women’s accessories - occupy the street.
Keep in mind that the shop owner prefers brands that share their aesthetic.
