The Columbia Street Waterfront District sits on the water near Cobble Hill, and is a beautiful, lesser-known residential area in Brooklyn. While there are relatively few restaurants and stores, this pop-up retail space for rent on Union Street offers a great opportunity to take advantage of the void.
The BQE separates the Columbia Street Waterfront District from the rest of Brooklyn, so the neighborhood has a very loyal local feel. There are a few places to attract non-residents, like the amazingly cozy music venue Jalopy Theater and the Jalopy Tavern next door. Freebird Books is a wonderful used bookstore that specializes in New York history and culture. It’s just a 10-minute walk to the F and G trains at Carroll Street.
Close by you’ll find clothing store Union Max, cafe Canteen, craft store Brooklyn General, a pizza shop and a very nice wine and spirits store across the street. At the end of the street is the wonderful seafood restaurant Petite Crevette. Lucali brick oven pizza and Mexican restauran Alma are close as well.
There is a half-finished bathroom in the space, which could be used as storage or in a creative way.
