The Five at Five: Margaux

27 Aug 2020

The Five at Five is a download of the best things to read, watch, shop, and get inspiration from – ready for the weekend. Each week, we’ll be bringing you selections from different tastemakers in our community, so you can delve into what’s keeping them entertained.

This week’s curator is Alexa Buckley, founder of Margaux, the DTC footwear brand ensuring our feet look as beautiful as they feel comfortable.

Read: Such a Fun Age – this is an incredible story about race and privilege by Kiley Reid. We had the unique opportunity to host a book club event for her just weeks before the COVID crisis began, and listening to her explain the process of writing the book was fascinating. She is as thoughtful as the characters she's developed in this blockbuster debut. I can't wait to see what happens as she adapts it into a screenplay.

Watch: Ramy. It's a show that tells a story of a character we rarely see on screen, and is as relatable as it is thought-provoking.

Listen: Our Margaux playlists. Even if we aren't together in the office, listening to the soundtrack of our work week keeps me in an upbeat state of mind.

Shop: Cocoshop is an Antinguan brand founded in 1949 that was relaunched by one of my closest friends last year. They make the most beautiful cotton clothing, and my favorite summer dresses.

Inspiration: Right now I'm finding inspiration in the moments when I can step away from screens. For me, this has meant cooking. I'm an amateur, but I've loved learning from our amazing Gaux Girls like Aishwarya at Brightland, Molly at Red Clay, or Kim and Vanessa at Omsom. They've taught me that the process can be as creative as it is satisfying--that great ingredients go a long way.
