A stone’s throw from London Fields, and not far from Morning Lane’s bars, pop-ups and luxury fashion outlet, Well Street is probably best known for its market - where Tesco founder Jack Cohen started out as a barrow boy. While this retail space to let is on a stretch that’s a little down at heel, it will place you near Well Street’s busy junction with Mare Street, and around the corner from the London College of Fashion.
While this isn’t the coolest or prettiest bit of Hackney, it is busy during the week with people running errands, buying groceries or grabbing lunch. Expect to see a largely local crowd – both young and old – plus workers from Mare Street’s studios and fashion manufacturers, and style-conscious students from the London College of Fashion. On Saturdays you may see a few foodies making their way down to Well Street Market, or trying out Buffalo Vegan Diner’s margheritas and meat-free wings. London Fields station is a 2-minute walk.
You’ll be in between Cocktail Nail Bar and Nicky’s Cafe, and over the road from a veterinary surgery and a couple of hairdressers. Scandi-inspired cocktail bar Helgi’s, late-night venue The Dolphin and Buffalo Vegan Diner are all nearby on Mare Street.
A1/A2 licensed.
Minimum let is 3 months.
All changes to the space must be approved by the landlord.
The space is currently laid out as an estate agents, but all furniture can be removed and the sign can be removed and vinyled over.
This stretch of street is more workaday than “wow”.
The frosted glass is just a vinyl that can be removed for shop bookings.
