Portobello Road may claim the title of Notting Hill’s most famous street, but this busy stretch of shops, restaurants and cafes is what gave the most iconic of London’s neighbourhoods its name. At the Holland Park Road end of Notting Hill Gate, this huge shop to let has two adjoining showroom spaces on the ground floor, another showroom in the basement and a small mezzanine level, all of which are in really good shape.

THE CROWD

Although tourists arrive in their droves at Notting Hill Gate station (two minutes down the road), it’s a more local affair here as residents of this affluent area do their grocery shopping in M&S and Little Waitrose nearby, or buy their running gear in the Sweatshop next door. The likes of Polpo and Pizza Express are popular dining spots in the evenings and at weekends. Independent cinema The Gate and Print Room at The Coronet’s award-winning theatrical productions attract a cultured crowd from further afield.

You’ll be in between specialist running store Sweatshop and hair and beauty salon Bladerunners. Opposite is a Thai massage place, nail salon and Cottons, a Caribbean restaurant and the Guinness World Record holder for having the most varieties of rum available – a staggering (literally) 372.
