Tucked away in South East London, Lee's revival begins with young families as they snap up the “affordable for London” housing, and the boutiques, cafes and galleries that follow them. Part of the Leegate Shopping Centre, and currently occupied by deafness awareness brand Deaf is Cool, this ground floor event space for rent currently comes with with two separate offices and a small bar.
The new Leegate Farmers’ Market, held in the open square of the shopping centre, is beginning to pull in a foodie crowd every Sunday. Artists and designers have been lured in by the cheap studio space to let in next-door’s Leegate House. In the evenings, the late-night kebab and chip shops are popular with long-time residents and incoming young professionals. Lee railway station is 15 minutes’ walk away.
The locals' boozer, The Old Tiger’s Head, is across the other side of the junction, as is the family-run neighbourhood pizzeria, Ristorante Carola. There are plenty of cheap and cheerful restaurants and cafes around you, including Sim's Steakhouse and Sushi Japanese.
No alcohol license.
There are bins in the car park the brand can be use.
The ceilings are quite low, but the space feels far from claustrophobic because of its size.
Leegate isn't the most happening of locations in South East London, but it's affordable and you'll attract a curious local presence who are in need of something new in the area.
