Bordered by the hipster-friendly Chorlton, the affluent South Manchester commuter town of Sale was recently ranked as the UK’s fourth best place to live. Over the road from Sale Town Hall and library, Emporium M33 is a former department store building that now houses a cool curation of brands and a local community of makers, with shop space to rent on the ground floor.
Cool kids who can’t afford Chorlton, established professionals and young families have adopted Sale as their home town, attracted by its transport connections, good schools and thriving café and pub culture. Locals come to Emporium M33 for vintage clothing, craft beer, handcrafted homewares and cupcakes during the week, but weekends are the busiest. Sale Metrolink tram station is two minutes’ walk away.
Emporium M33’s residents include long-established local business Cooper Sports, Sale’s only craft beer bottle shop Artisan Ales, and Manchester Pop Trail for illustrator Paul Wilde’s ceramics.
