With its restaurants, markets and breweries, Bermondsey has shuffled off its rough and ready reputation to become one of the capital’s great food and drink destinations. Home to the one of the famous markets which bears its name, Druid Street comes alive on Saturdays beneath the railway arches. THE CROWD

Weekends are busiest as foodies flock to Druid Street Market and nearby Maltby Street market, but some surrounding bars and breweries are open weekday evenings too, pulling in the post-work crowd. You’re also on the Bermondsey Beer Mile, which attracts (mostly) discerning drinkers looking to try out the many microbreweries. There’s easy access from Bermondsey Street and London Bridge stations, both between 10 and 15 minutes’ walk away.
