A Little About This Space

With its very own street market and traditional pie and mash shop, Bethnal Green Road still has a bit of old East End spirit, despite being in one of the hippest parts of the capital. Occupying a corner spot and the shop next door, this large retail space to let has a storage room and toilets at the back, and great frontage on a busy stretch near Tesco, The Star of Bethnal Green and Weavers Fields.

THE CROWD

From Monday through Saturday, you’ll see locals shopping for groceries at Bethnal Green Road Market and young professionals and creatives making their way to and from work in the City and nearby Shoreditch. Evenings bring a young, cool crowd to the likes of The Star of Bethnal Green and the Old George pub nearby. Thanks to the new East London Hotel and Paradise Row’s collection of bars and restaurants, more and more tourists are making a weekend of it in this part of town. Bethnal Green station is a five-minute walk.

MEET THE NEIGHBOURS

You’ll be next door to a phone shop, and there’s a Halifax on the next corner. Opposite is a busy branch of Tesco Metro, the Old George and The Star of Bethnal Green. Old-school pie and mash shop G. Kelly and E. Pellicci, London’s oldest family-run cafe, are both nearby.

Rules of The Space

A1 license.

Minimum let is 1 week; there’s no maximum for now.

The landlord is happy for changes to be made to the space, and may be prepared to do some superficial work on the interior.

Home Truths

The space still has the old retail cladding on the walls, which can be removed, and could do with a bit of a spruce up.

You’ll have market stalls outside on the pavement Monday to Saturday, but you’ll still be visible from the street.
