The Five at Five: Jemma Finch
30 sept. 2021
From hidden-gems to places to people-watch, from bookshops to beauty spots – The Five at Five offers some post-lockdown inspiration that celebrates the independents.
This week’s selection has been curated by Jemma Finch, the founder of Stories Behind Things. “It began as a passion project to celebrate the power of storytelling when trying to live a more sustainable life. Since then it has grown into a multi facetted platform and force for positive change,” explains Jemma.
Jemma – and her growing platform – prides themselves on being a solution-led space that harnesses the positivity we need to create change. “From our online shop to offline events, our mission is to challenge mindsets when it comes to sustainability. And most of all, to acknowledge that their daily actions really do lead to greater lasting change”.
Silo London is the best restaurant ever... They redesigned their restaurant from back to front, aka always with the bin in mind. They are completely zero waste and show other restaurants what the future of zero waste eating can look like.
People watching has to be done in New York, Central Park. When I last traveled there I fondly remember it to be the absolutely best mix of people, style and business.
I've recently been trying not to buy books new, and borrow instead. This is something I picked up during lockdown - a great way to keep in touch with loved ones over books that you've shared and loved.
Thyme is a wellness haven in the countryside in the UK, this is my favorite place to reconnect to nature. They use farm to table methods and everything there is locally sourced. It inspires me to take time away from technology and back to basics.
London is filled with independents and brands who are paving the way for sustainability. We were honoured to host our first pop up in this city, bringing our online shop offline into a physical space. You can find our online shop here.
