BuzzFeed and Yahoo Mail launch Christmas market

13 Dec 2019

Media giants BuzzFeed and Yahoo Mail have turned their hand to retail with a two-day Christmas market in the Meatpacking District. Punning shamelessly, the one-day pop-up ‘Slay the Holidays’ is a colourful extravaganza of oversized games and prizes, celebrating the brands’ success with an interactive funfair.

Promoting the new Yahoo Mail features, the free event marks the first time users can test-drive the new app, offering them the chance to win prizes by earning points at various stations. Bringing the inbox to life, people can toss unwanted emails into ‘unsubscribe baskets’ at a carnival-style booth. There will also be interactive quizzes where visitors can test their knowledge of pop culture and compete with friends on celeb facts whilst a DJ plays festive tracks.

Instead of bulk buying, Slay the Holidays give visitors the option to DIY. Guests can decorate a sugar cookie at The Tasty Station and make their own Christmas cards at The Green Screen Photo Booth with props and various backdrops.

Finally, Yahoo and Buzzfeed have carefully selected local NYC vendors who will be selling guilt-free gifts, encouraging the community to shop local and support the neighbourhood’s independent businesses.
